Support Educator for Fallström's Short-Term Unit

The Health and Care Administration, with its approximately 1500 employees, is one of the administrations in the city of Mölndal and includes elderly care, functional support, and health care.

Fallström's short-term unit was established in October 2023 and is a service for short-term placements within social psychiatry. We target users with mental disabilities and comorbidity. As we are a relatively newly started and growing unit, there are great opportunities to influence the operations together with the manager and colleagues. We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to help create the best possible everyday life for our users.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a support educator, you play a key role in the quality work, methods, and working methods of the operation. You are responsible for the educational work and are a knowledge resource in the work team. You act as support and guide for the work group and also function as management support. You guide the work group based on the needs and methods of the operation. You ensure that social documentation and implementation plans according to IBIC are established, further developed, and followed according to laws and guidelines. The role of the support educator also includes collaboration with other key personnel from our operations and you contribute to strengthening the forms of cooperation.

You are responsible for method meetings and other competence development and are comfortable leading groups. As support, you are offered guidance from method developers and you are part of a network with other support educators in the field.

You also participate in direct work and support users with social and practical interventions both in and outside the home. Some users also have care needs. You provide professional support by empowering the user in their everyday life. You work motivatingly and mapping based on evidence-based methods such as ESL, motivational interviewing (MI), low-arousal approach, and clarifying pedagogy. You are involved in planning for the reception of new users and from day one work in a structured manner, while also planning together with the user for their next steps. All work is based on the user's individually established implementation plan.

To thrive and succeed in the role, it is important that you are comfortable with outwardly acting users, substance abuse issues, mental disabilities, and comorbidity. Since it is a short-term unit, you also need to enjoy frequently receiving new users.

We work with operationally adapted and adjustable schedules. The need is continuously adapted according to the needs of the operation, which means that you need to be prepared to work during the day, evening, weekend, and on-call.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has

• Relevant post-secondary education as a support educator or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience in psychiatry, substance abuse, suicide, self-harm behavior.
• Experience working with individuals with mental disabilities.
• Good knowledge of low-arousal approach (LAB), clarifying pedagogy, independent living (ESL), and alternative cognitive communication (AKK).
• Training in handling threats and violence.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with Timecare and Treserva.
